Update from Humla & Seeds of Hope

We are no doubt in challenging times. But with those challenges, comes incredible opportunity. With opportunity comes hope.

As the sunlight and spring begins to return in Humla, shamans and villagers celebrate Losar with wisdom and hope. Losar is the celebration of the Tibetan New Year based on the lunar calendar. The festival of Losar can be traced back to the pre-Buddhist period in Tibet. The indigenous people in Humla welcome in the new year with reverence and gratitude for the land spirits and elements of weather to ensure good relations between the earth and humanity. Shamans and climatologists concur that the winds from the Himalayas plays a crucial role in the creation of weather for our entire planet. As holders of vital knowledge, rituals and traditions, the shamans are stewards of the earth and carriers of a sustainable future for us all.

This Losar, Middle World Alliance honored eight indigenous shamans with the Wisdom Treasure Award. These individuals have devoted their lives to ensuring that their traditions continue for the generations to come. They are a living reminder of sacred connection, sustainability, reverence and vision. Perhaps never before in history has there been such an urgent need for this wisdom to be protected and shared.

Your generosity is making it possible to connect the worldview and wisdom of the Bön indigenous culture and tradition with those who are seeking ways to shift our world to one in which we live with respect and reverence for all living beings.
